Moving to Portland

Most everyone we talk to with any regularity already knows this but we’ve tasted the kook-aid and found it delicious, and so we’re joining the migration by moving to Portland in March. We’ve been planning this for quite a while but now that it’s getting closer we’ve started taking some positive steps in that direction.

One of these steps was posting a housing wanted ad on Craigslist. Sarai got the idea to do this from someone else who did the same thing when moving there and who ended up finding a great house before it went on the open rental market. It’s a long shot, but Craigslist is free so we tried it ourselves. Lo and behold, we got a response the same day and the house sounds perfect. We haven’t seen it yet, of course, but the owner sent a bunch of pictures and it looks pretty good so far.

We’ll be up in PDX for a few days this weekend and are going to check it out. Who knows, we just might find our place in Portland as easily as we found our current apartment in Oakland. Moving long distances is hard so it will be awesome if this place works out.

We’re pretty excited about the move. We’re both ready for a change from the SF bay area and Portland has just the vibe we’re looking for.

On a totally unrelated note, I’ve started using Twitter so follow me if you like.
