CIA, North Hollywood

If anyone ever invites you to an event at CIA in North Hollywood, DON’T GO. (their web site is completely broken, so don’t bother going to that either)

We made the mistake of going to Apocalipstick (which I still think is a great name) there on Saturday, and it was the worst night out I’ve had in a long, long time. My first impression, after paying $10 to get in, was that the venue was too dark. It turns out this was because the power had gone out. Some guy behind us was flipping breaker switches seemingly at random in an attempt to get it back on. Five or ten minutes later, he finally figured it out. In all fairness, I don’t know if the venue was really over capacity or not, but it sure seemed like it, given that we had no room to move, much less walk. Due to the leaky roof, it was raining inside as well as outside and that, combined with the number of people crammed into such a small space, made the room feel like a sauna. It was so hot and humid I thought I was going to pass out before I could get my coat off. We stayed all of about 15 or 20 minutes before deciding to cut our losses and leave. Worst. Event. Ever.

Sort of fitting, since their club was broken as well. Heh.
