Election day plans

We’ll be watching the election returns at Stacy’s house on Tuesday evening, drinking either to celebrate, or to drown our sorrows as we make plans to flee across the border to Mexico.

Alameda county, which Berkeley is part of, was suckered into buying Diebold voting machines, which means that there’s a good chance our votes won’t be counted. The good news is that California now requires that counties using electronic voting machines that do not provide a verifiable paper trail MUST allow voters to use a paper ballot if requested. Needless to say, I’ll be voting on paper. That last link also has a list of counties using these specific machines.
