More book shopping

We went thrift store shopping yesterday. No really great finds, but I did manage to add three books to my already large to-read list.

I got two more Brian Herbert Dune prequels — big hardbound editions — for only $2 each. I still haven’t read the other three books of his I have, the House… books, so I just may have the full collection before I even start reading them (I just hope they’re decent). The new ones are The Butlerian Jihad and The Machine Crusade. My other find was Crypto, by Steven Levy, which looks pretty good. It should balance out that god-awful Dan Brown book nicely.

I rewrote my book list recently. It now shows a few recently read books as well as the to-read list. Now I just need to add a section for what I’m reading at the moment, as I keep changing my mind about where current books should go in the list. I’m currently reading Engines of Creation and I’m about to start The Torture Garden.

Thursday morning, bright and early at 7:00am, we’re flying out to NYC. We’re going to have to get up at like 4:00am to get to SFO on time. Oakland International is so much closer, but we could only get the super cheap fare if we flew out of SFO. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some sleep on the plane, I don’t want to be completely out of it when we get to Rob and Sarah’s. I have no idea what we’ll be doing while we’re there, but I’m sure it’ll be fun nonetheless.

Tonight is the EFF event at 111 Minna. Sarai’s coming out to meet me after work, then we’ll have an hour or two to kill before it starts. When I first started working here I spent my lunch breaks walking around to get a feel for the surrounding area. I covered most every street within a three or four block radius, but I still don’t know anything good to do to kill time in an early evening like tonight.
