BART security

BART didn’t strike after all. I suppose this is a good thing, but I was kind of looking forward to being able to work from home for a while. I brought a VPN router and VoIP phone home Tuesday night in preparation, only to have to bring it all back to the office Wednesday morning.

With the recent bombings in London, I’ll bet they’re wishing they walked out after all. The trains are still running, but we’re now being subjected to “security sweeps” before crossing the bay in either direction. This “sweep” consists of a BART cop walking down the length of the train looking in the open doors. I’m not sure what they’re looking for: Brown-skinned people? A big box marked “CAUTION: BOMB“?

When I got off the train at Ashby yesterday evening, I saw an unattended Hello Kitty backpack. I didn’t report it.
