New camera

Nikon Coolpix 8400

Just in time for our trip to Italy next week, we got a new camera! After a couple months of price and feature comparisons we finally decided on the Nikon Coolpix 8400. It’s not an SLR, but it’s “SLR-like”, which means it’s almost a real camera. We can manually adjust the focus, shutter speed, and aperture as well as using fully automatic mode, and while we can’t replace the lenses, we can add lens attachments.

I like it a lot so far. I’ve been thinking about learning more about photography lately and this camera will be a good starting point. I wanted something fairly nice, but real SLRs are too expensive for my needs right now. This camera normally isn’t cheap either, but thanks to the Ebay grey market we got it for nearly half the US retail price, which put it nicely into our preferred price range.
